What the calculators are

The tools give free, general planning estimates in US units. They are not a professional measurement, structural design, engineering opinion, inspection, permit, or contractor quote. Results depend on the numbers and assumptions you enter. You are responsible for checking every estimate against site measurements, manufacturer instructions, and your local building department before you buy materials or start work.

Acceptable use

You may use the calculators for your own personal or internal business planning, and you may link to our pages. Do not misuse the site, attempt to disrupt it, probe or access it without permission, or copy it to present a misleading replica.

Intellectual property

The text, design, and software on this site are owned by the site operator except where another right is noted. These terms do not transfer that ownership to you.

Disclaimers

The site and calculators are provided as-is and as-available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement are disclaimed. A result is not guaranteed to be complete, current, or suitable for a particular project.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, wasted materials, or project costs, arising from use of the site. Total liability for a claim relating to the site is limited to the amount you paid to use it. That amount is zero because the calculators are free. Some places do not allow certain limitations, and there the limits apply only as far as the law allows. These terms do not exclude liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, where the law does not allow that exclusion.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you keep the mandatory protections of the country where you live. A court that the law requires to hear a consumer claim may hear that claim.

Changes

A new version of these terms may be posted on this page with a new effective date. Use of the site after that date is use under the updated terms.
